Mungeli district is a new district of Chhattisgarh formed from Bilaspur District and it was formed on 1st January 2012. The total population of the district is 7,01,707 as per 2011 Census. Th district is divided into 3 Blocks, 3 Tehsils and 711 Revenue Villages. The places of tourist interests in the districts are Setganga, Rajiv Gandhi reservoir (Khudia reservoir), Satya Narayan Temple, Achanakmar Tiger Reserve (ATR), Mdku Island (Historic Site), Motimpur (immortal Island), Hthanikla Temple, Krragat, Shivgat, Dongrigdh Devi shrine, Panderbhatta, and Semrsl.
