About District

Yanam district is situated on the East Coast of the Indian Peninsula at 16 degrees 42' northern latitude, and between 82 degree 11' Eastern longitude bounded on all sides by the East Godavari District of Andhra Pradesh State. Endowed with a rich cultural ancestry and traditional legacy of the bygone, Yanam district is spread over an area of 30 sq. km. The total population of the district is 55,626 as per census 2011. The entire region, consisting of Yanam town and six revenue villages is treated as Municipality for purposes of local administration. The district of Yanam is blessed with numerous important educational institutions of great repute. Agriculture and industries play an important role in strengthening the economy of the district of Yanam. The region of Yanam is endowed with the bounty of nature that casts a magical spell on the tourists. Some of the tourist destinations of Yanam are Venkanna Babu Temple - One of the prominent religious shrines of Yanam and The new Yanam- Ferry road - An engineering marvel of Yanam and it is an important landmark of the district Yanam.
